There are several popular rule sets available for wargaming World War I (WWI), allowing players to recreate the battles and conflicts of this historic period. Here are a few well-known rule sets:

The Great War: The Great War is a rule set published by Warlord Games. It is specifically designed for war gaming WWI battles and focuses on the trench warfare and tactics of the era. The rules cover infantry, artillery, tanks, and other units of the period.

Mud & Blood: Mud & Blood is a set of rules by Studio Tomahawk. It covers the trench warfare of WWI and emphasizes the unique challenges of the period. The rules include mechanics for infantry, artillery, and other units, as well as the effects of gas attacks and morale.

Through the Mud and the Blood: Through the Mud and the Blood is a set of rules by Two Fat Lardies. It is designed for wargaming the battles of WWI, focusing on small-scale skirmishes and platoon-level combat. The rules emphasize the challenges and tactics of the period.

Blitzkrieg Commander: Blitzkrieg Commander is a rule set by Pendraken Miniatures. While primarily focused on World War II, it also provides a supplement called “Blitzkrieg Commander IV: World War One” specifically for wargaming WWI battles. The rules cover infantry, artillery, tanks, and aircraft of the period.

Carnage and Glory II: Carnage and Glory II is a set of rules by Peter Pig. While primarily designed for the Napoleonic era, it offers a supplement called “Carnage and Glory WW1” for wargaming WWI battles. The rules focus on brigade-level combat and include mechanics for infantry, artillery, and tanks.

These are just a few examples of rule sets available for WWI wargaming. Each rule set has its own unique mechanics, level of detail, and play style. It’s recommended to explore these rule sets further, read reviews, and choose the one that best aligns with your gaming preferences and the specific historical era you wish to simulate.
