There are several popular rule sets available for wargaming the American War of Independence (AWI). Here are a few of the well-known rule sets:

Black Powder: A rule set published by Warlord Games. While it covers a wide range of conflicts, including the AWI, Black Powder provides specific rules and army lists for recreating battles from this period. It emphasizes brigade-level combat and includes rules for infantry, cavalry, artillery, and special units of the AWI era.

Rebels and Patriots: Is a rule set by Michael Leck and Daniel Mersey. It is specifically designed for gaming the AWI and focuses on skirmish-level combat. Rebels and Patriots offers a flexible and accessible approach to recreating small-scale engagements and emphasizes the unique characteristics of the AWI period.

Muskets and Tomahawks: A rule set by Studio Tomahawk. It covers conflicts in North America from the French and Indian War through the AWI. Muskets and Tomahawks allows players to simulate skirmishes and small battles involving a mix of regular troops, irregular forces, and Native American warriors.

British Grenadier!: Is a rule set by John Ray and Phil Barker. It is specifically designed for wargaming the AWI and focuses on the tactical aspects of the period. British Grenadier! offers a detailed system that includes rules for formations, command and control, and period-specific tactics.

Regimental Fire and Fury: Is a set of rules by Rich Hasenauer. It covers a wide range of conflicts, including the AWI. Regimental Fire and Fury emphasizes regimental-level combat and provides rules for infantry, cavalry, artillery, and special units of the period.

These are just a few of the rule sets available for AWI wargaming. Each rule set has its own unique mechanics, level of detail, and play style.
